What we do
Why choose us?
Happy, relaxed family atmosphere where each child is valued and respected
We strongly believe in allowing the children to set the pace within our daily routines, giving them time to unwind, increase their independence and get to know each other. We are very well resourced with a particularly wide range of creative materials which means all (sensible!) suggestions for activities are considered. Children are regularly reminded of our Behaviour code ‘Farmer Bill says’ which promotes kindness, respect for all and ‘good listening’.
We nurture a love of nature and rural life
Through our daily farm and nature walks we aim to nurture a love of rural life and nature. Children are encouraged to treat wildlife and the farm animals with respect. Our regular fun quizzes ( with prizes! ) test children’s understanding of the information shared with them by both staff and Farmer Bill.
We provide non-stop arts and crafts
When in our base children have continuous opportunities to take part in a range of arts and crafts activities. A specific activity is provided each day which the children can opt for or work on their own projects. As from this year we are offering children a chance to work in small groups with Jane ( who runs a term time art group in a local primary school) to learn specific arts and crafts skills such as Decoupage, Paint pouring, Macrame etc
Very thorough safety procedures
All of our staff are trained in Safeguarding children and we always have at least one Qualified First Aider present. Health and Safety is of particular importance at our setting as we are on a working farm. Thorough risk assessments are regularly reviewed and daily checks undertaken. Safety talks with the children take place before daily and the ‘good listening’ element of our behaviour code is very strictly followed, particularly when we are moving around the farm.
Children are never split by age group
We do not separate children into specific groups which enables everyone to play together and form their own friendship groups. We find this enhances the ‘family feel’ of our club, boosts self esteem and has proved to be very successful.
Experienced, well trained mature staff
All of our senior staff have childcare or teaching qualifications. Our manager Jane ( a former childcare tutor) holds in- house training sessions for all staff each year covering child protection, health and safety and first aid. We support staff to undertake a range of online training courses to ensure all knowledge is kept up to date. Our training file is available to view on request.
High staff/child ratios
Although we are not legally required to do so we always ensure our adult child ratios high. This helps us to ensure that every child is kept safe and gets all the attention they need.
